I’ve had this movie sitting in my house since Friday. It is now Wednesday, and I just got done watching it. Is Sasquatch Hunters (Primeval) a massive 20+ hour epic miniseries in the tradition of Shogun? No, it is a just a damn chore trying to watch it. This is a film with good intentions, but sometimes that’s just not enough. I understand that the producers didn’t hand out a boat load of cash, but at least give the viewer something. I will skip over the wooden acting, the dreary film stock, and a script that was written down on a cocktail napkin at Fuddrucker’s (That last line is true...read the trivia section). The most important thing to most viewers will probably be the creatures themselves. It’s basically a guy in a suit for the simple shots, and augmented CGI for all the complicated ones. The computer effects are mediocre at best (that’s saying a lot), on par with every other movie out there with a names like SABERTOOTH, BOA, and DRAGON FIGHTER. I say mediocre, because when the creature is running, you get that nifty blurry effect. You know, the kind of look you see when hoax photographers get a glimpse of said creature. This movie is a rental at best, coupled with a six-pack of beer. If you like these kind of movies, go rent a similar themed movie called SASQUATCH. It stars Lance Hendrickson and it really isn’t that bad |
